Mental Health

I'm reading a book by Elizabeth George and she makes a statement in Chapter one that has an impact on me and some things going on with other people in my life right now.

"Work on what is real rather than worry about what is unreal."

Oh how I so often do the opposite. I start to think all kinds of thing when I worry. I am even afraid at times to doing something or ask someone something because I tell myself I know they will think it is just me wanting to know, cause trouble or be a know it all. I don't really know know what their response will be. I am guessing and that is an unreal thought.

We are told in Philippians 4:8
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things

How much easier our lives would be if we just did this. What ever is true! Well God's word is true so think on the word. Memorise scripture, meditate on scripture and then be obedient to scripture. We need to remember the bible is true not feelings and thoughts.

Our thoughts need to be healthy. What are we like when we are physically sick. Tired, lack of energy, crabby, leave me alone,..... You get the idea. When our thoughts are unhealthy we are the same way.

I love how the Amplified bible puts the first part of Proverbs 23:7
For as he thinks in his heart, so is he....

So lets have a mental health day and think only on the true, noble, right, pure, lovely,
admirable, excellent and praiseworthy.

Oh can I identify and understand this post.
The other day as we were riding along the rode and I was wondering about all the people in the homes we passed...I began imagining a conversation. Before long it had grown and I felt myself getting uptight. Then all of a sudden it hit me.....I had a mind gone WILD!
What an imagination!
But it does get me in trouble...running ahead when I should just be dealing with today.
Sounds like the book you are reading has some good stuff in it.

Yea! What a great post today! I am like Sharon I can start thinking about a conversation I MIGHT have with someone and before long I am all wound up and then I think, Oh for goodness sake's!!! This is all in my mind!! Got to keep our eyes and mind and Hearts on Him!! Love and hugs Grams
