Treasure Hunt

The little guy I am caring for brought along a Treasure Hunt today. We've been reading Treasure Island and have been searching for treasures around the house. Well today this thing he brought was a lesson for me. You see there is this treasure chest under all these little stones pressed together. So we headed outside and laid newspaper and went to work. The toy comes with a small plastic knife (not sharp) and the object is to scrape the stones till the treasure chest is found. Then you open the chest and will find either gems, gold coins, or bats.

As we scraped the little stone would fly and hit us. They didn't sting it was just a nuisance. It took mussels to keep digging. It took time too. The little guy got tired of digging but wanted the surprise so much we had to keep working.

Now I got to thinking about God's Treasures for us. God has many treasures if we just seek and ask. That doesn't mean it will come easy. We may have to remove the stones around us firts. We may need to add muscle and hard work. It may take time till we reach our treasure. Do we give up when we get tired and wonder why God didn't hear us. Or are we so excited to be seeking God's treasure for us we push on even when we feel we can go no more.

Proverbs 2:4-5
if you look for it as for silver
and search for it as for hidden treasure,
then you will understand the fear of the LORD
and find the knowledge of God.

Luke 12:34
For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
