Thankful Thursday

The Word Mercy has been coming to my mind a great deal lately so I'm sure God wants me to study this wordd Mercy. That is just what I started to do. For this reason today I am saying Thank You Lord for Your mercy.

What is mercy? It is compassion or act of kindness shown toward an enemy or person who doesn't respond positively. That sure is us. We may not think of ourselves as God's enemy but we sure don't respond positively toward God all the time. First off we are sinners and it is though God's compassion and act of Kindness (His death on the cross) that is saving us from death. God showed His mercy toward us even though he knew in advance we as humans can't be fully be obedient to Him all the time. If we could we would be perfect and I know I'm far from perfect. I feel unworthy of God's mercy but I am greatful He has shown me Mercy.

Isaiah 30:18
Yet the LORD longs to be gracious to you;
he rises to show you compassion.
For the LORD is a God of justice.
Blessed are all who wait for him!

Exodus 33:19
And the LORD said, "I will cause all my goodness to pass in front of you, and I will proclaim my name, the LORD, in your presence. I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion.

Matthew 9:13
But go and learn what this means: 'I desire mercy, not sacrifice. For I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.

Proverbs 28:13
He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.

God I am so greatful for you mercy. Reveal to me in the coming days more of what you want me to know about your mercy as I study this word. Thank you

Back at the beginning of the summer my pastor told me that God had given him a word for me.
I was to start thinking about how I spoke to people. That it should be with the spirit of mercy.
At first I thought-goodness I didn't know that I was dealing with them in a prideful way.
And of course that was not what God was trying to tell me. He wanted me to love. To say what I was saying from a deeper level of love.
It has been a rough road. I love people. But because of the things I have been through the last few months-that love is different now.
When we get in touch with His mercy--it will show up in our lives in ways that we never thought.

If God has poured out on me His great mercy - then shouldn't I show mercy to others? This is the question I had to ask after reading your post. Even if someone has hurt you - we need to show mercy...thanks Sandi for this word today.

I am so thankful for God's mercy. I need to be more merciful to others, especially to those I feel have done a wrong to me.
