Thankful Thursday

I am thankful I can rest in God. These last few weeks have taught me some things about rest.

Being told after my surgery to rest and not do much was and still is a challenge to me. I am thinking it ranks right up there with some of the most difficulties things I have to do, or not do.

Got me to thinking about resting in God. Did you ever have God telling you to rest? Be still and know I am God. Do you listen? What happens when you don't? I find God turns circumstances to the point you have no choice to be still.
Psalm 46:10
"Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth."

I remember a time when God was telling me something and I just keep saying but God give me a little longer. Then one day I started with back pain so bad I couldn't continue. My husband just said that is enough! Make the call we will no longer. Well it took me a few days but I did make the call. When the call was complete and I fully resigned all the back pain just disappeared. It was God saying I gave you long enough now is it your time to be still and rest in me.
So when life gets busy we need to listen to God and take time to rest in Him.

Mark 6:31
Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, "Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest."

Matthew 11:29
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Thank you Lord for being my resting place
