Lasting Friendships

I've been thinking a lot about friends lately. The family whose children I care for will soon be moving to Boston from PA. When ever we think about them leaving we have an ache. We plan on staying in touch and hope to visit but will our buys lives allow for it? How important is it to us to make time for friends. We are so busy and and it is often the activities we do where we make our friends. As our lives grow and change it seems our friends do too.

Recently our family needed to leave as church as did many other families. Our closest friends didn't see the need to leave yet. We had vacation with these friends the past several years. Many people would say how can you remain friends with them or you are very lucky that your friendship have remained intact. We as friends know, just like in a marriage, God must be the head of that friendship. Our friendship remains because we trust God with it. We pray for each other and love each other in a Christlike way. We see beyond our differences.
Michael W. Smith has a song that describes our friendship

Packing up the dreams God planted
In the fertile soil of you
Cant believe the hopes hes granted
Means a chapter in your life is through
But well keep you close as always
It wont even seem you've gone
cause our hearts in big and small ways
Will keep the love that keeps us strong

Chorus:
And friends are friends forever
If the lords the lord of them
And a friend will not say never
cause the welcome will not end
Though its hard to let you go
In the fathers hands we know
That a lifetimes not too long to live as friends.

With the faith and love gods given
Springing from the hope we know
We will pray the joy you'll live in
Is the strength that now you show
But well keep you close as always
It wont even seem you've gone
cause our hearts in big and small ways
Will keep the love that keeps us strong

Chorus
