Parking Lot

Yesterday I spent some time taking my Aunt (who doesn't drive) to vote, shopping and visit my mom. Breakfast was an added treat. We went to a few stores but what surprised me most was the parking lot activity. At Bed Bath and Beyond the parking lot was empty and people just took their time. They would stop and and look for cars, someone else go first and greet people with a hello. It reminded me of a slow paced life.

Then we left that shopping center and went to Wal-Marts. The parking lot was packed. People were fighting for parking spaces. They were in a hurry an most didn't look for cars. They also had a fast pace walk. I'll admit I fell into the pace. When we were leaving the store I was walking looking down. When my Aunt started laughing I didn't even look up. To my surprise we came to a stop and there stood my mother. My Mom's house was to be our next stop. Both my Aunt and Mother said we were wondering when you would look around and see what was going on around you. I must tell you I am one who usually knows who is around or what is going on so their comment surprised me.

This go me to thinking. Is my life like this when I have a slow pace life I see what is going on around me and take the time to enjoy it. My life is looking upward toward God. But when I'm in the face pace of life I don't always look up to God. But others are still watching me. I need to be more aware of the fast paces in my life and look up to God to I am a refection of who he wants me to be.

Colossian 4:4-6
Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should. Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.

Things are getting better now and I am starting to slow down a bit. When I slow down I have time for Him. When I have time for Him--I have time to notice others.
