My Testimony

I love hearing people's testimonies. So today I thought I would share mine.

I grew up in home where you didn't go to church. But when I was 4 my neighbors invited me to Bible School. I just loved how the teachers could make the stories (that what they were to me at the time just stories) come alive. When I was about 8 years old, they asked me if I wanted to go to church on Sundays with me. I wanted to go and for the most part my parents left me go. There was just something there that drew me to the church.

Through my school years I was the child who would get picked on. I had some really embarrassing things said about me and things done to me. I didn't really have many friends. There was one family at this church I was going to, with the neighbors, who had 4 girls around my age. These girls where often talked about just like I was. One day the mother invited me to come to lunch after church with them. I accepted because I wanted to see why these girls were so happy even with the way people talked about them. When I left their home I knew it had to be something to do with this Jesus I hear about in church.

Now I'm about 14 years old. And I decided I need to read this book called the Bible. We didn't have one in the house so I started asking my parents for a bible. Christmas passed and birthday passed still no bible. Then one day the neighbor asked me if I would like to go to a "Campus Life" meeting. (This is youth for Christ clubs in high school). I started going. One week the leader was doing one of his fun games. He asked us to share if we could have anything in the world what would it be. With God's timing I was the last to answer. Most asked for cars, money, new clothes, but not me I still wanted my Bible. I said "well I've been asking my parents for a bible almost a year now and still didn't get one so I would say a Bible." I remember there was such a quite come over the room I though oh no I'm embarrassing myself now. The leader reached into his bag and handed me a Bible. Months later I learned he felt God telling him to bring an extra bible along that night because some one needs it.

I took that bible home and started reading it. Laster that night I gave my life over to God. You see the gift I wanted most wasn'ti the book it was the personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I didn't know it at the time but I sure do now.

Wow! What a great testimony.
We must always be mindful of just how precious having a Bible is to us.
Something that we should never ever take for granted. I was reading the Bible on line over the past but have, for the most part, returned to the good ol' paper page Bible. It's more portable, can go anywhere I go, and I don't have to connect online to get connected with God.
